Overview
Instagram Live Wallpaper ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our macOS application.
Key Point: We do not collect, store, or share any of your personal data on our servers. All data remains on your Mac.
Information We Access
Instagram Data
When you log in with your Instagram Business or Creator account, the App accesses:
- Your Instagram Posts: Photos and videos you have posted to your Instagram account
- Post Metadata: Captions, hashtags, like counts, and comment counts
- Profile Information: Your Instagram username and user ID
What We Don't Access:
- Other users' content or profiles
- Your Instagram feed or stories
- Your Instagram messages or comments
- Your followers or following lists
- Your Instagram password (we use OAuth 2.0)
How We Use Your Information
The App uses your Instagram data solely to:
- Display your Instagram photos as desktop wallpaper
- Search your photos by hashtag
- Show photo metadata (likes, comments)
- Remember your preferences and settings
We never:
- Store your Instagram data on our servers
- Share your data with third parties
- Analyze your data for advertising
- Post or modify content on your behalf
Data Storage
Local Storage Only
All data is stored locally on your Mac in the following locations:
- macOS Keychain: Your Instagram access token (encrypted by macOS)
- Application Support Folder: User preferences, banned photos/users lists
- Temporary Cache: Downloaded images (cleared when you quit the app)
No Cloud Storage
We do not operate any servers or cloud storage. Your Instagram access token and preferences never leave your Mac.
Third-Party Services
Instagram Graph API
The App connects to Instagram's Graph API (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) to fetch your Instagram content. Your use of Instagram is governed by Instagram's Privacy Policy.
macOS Sharing Services
When you share a wallpaper using the built-in Share button, the App uses macOS native sharing services (Email, Messages, Facebook, Twitter, AirDrop, etc.). Your data is handled according to the privacy policies of the services you choose to share with.
We do not:
- Track which services you share with
- Receive copies of content you share
- Store your social media credentials
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security practices:
- OAuth 2.0: Secure authentication without storing your Instagram password
- HTTPS: All Instagram API requests use encrypted connections
- macOS Keychain: Access tokens stored using macOS system encryption
- No Server Storage: Your data never leaves your Mac
Analytics and Tracking
We do not use any analytics, tracking, or telemetry.
The App does not:
- Track your usage or behavior
- Collect crash reports or diagnostics
- Use cookies or tracking pixels
- Monitor which photos you view or share
Your Rights and Control
Access and Deletion
- Access: All your data is stored locally on your Mac. You can access it anytime in your Application Support folder.
- Delete: To delete all data, click "Logout" in the app menu. To completely remove all traces, also delete the app from Applications folder.
Revoke Access
You can revoke the App's access to your Instagram account at any time:
- Go to Instagram Settings → Apps and Websites
- Find "Instagram Live Wallpaper"
- Click "Remove"
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 13. Instagram requires users to be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
California Privacy Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected
- Know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
- Request deletion of personal information
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information and never have. Since all data is stored locally on your Mac, you have complete control over your information.
European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right to Access: You can access all data stored locally on your Mac
- Right to Deletion: Logout and delete the app to remove all data
- Right to Portability: Export your preferences from Application Support folder
- Right to Object: Don't grant Instagram permissions if you don't want us to access your data
Legal Basis: We process your Instagram data based on your consent (OAuth authorization).
